The Holmesglen Institute of TAFE in Melbourne, Australia is using the grid computing component of Oracle's 10g platform to enable a group of computers to share processing load and provide redundancy to reduce downtime. "The primary advantage we were able to explain to the non-technical people in our organization was that, rather than having to swap out server hardware worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, we are able to extend the processing capacity and the life of those systems by adding additional machines to the cluster," said the institute's information systems manager, Martin Power.
